  • Mexico has made huge strides in improving their economy and that is due to their involvement in NAFTA


 

Effect of NAFTA

  • It has created a significant increase in manufacturing and production. Specifically in electronics and automobiles industries.

  • Mexico has the 6th largest electronics industry in the world and is number one exporter of electronics to the United States.

  • Mexico is the largest manufacturer of automobiles in North America. US automotive companies that produce in Mexico consist of: General Motors (GE), Ford (F), Fiat Chrysler Automotive's (FCAU).

Effects of Mexico's Manufacturing

“As the economy and consumer dynamics of the country continue to improve, more manufacturers are adding or moving their operations to Mexico. This trend is expected to continue, with the country likely to see an increasing number of manufacturers, specifically in the electronics and automobiles industries.” [1]


 

Economic Breakdown

  • 47% in middle-class households (14.6 Million)

  • By 2030, 3.8 Million more households expected to enter the middle-class threshold

  • “Mexico’s middle-class growth has been linked simultaneously with the added economic advantages of the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement, which has increased exports for electronic and automobiles while also improving energy exports.” [1]
